Thermal conductive silicone grease

With the continuous development of science and technology, every household is now basically installed with computers, and the information age is all opened. The problem of computer heat dissipation is written as a major problem. In the process of computer operation, the temperature will be emitted. We always try our best to reduce the operating temperature of the computer. Therefore, thermal management is a very important maintenance link. Understanding the thermal conductive silicone grease is one of the foundations for the correct application of computer heat dissipation.



1 Correct selection of proper thermal conductive silicone grease

Most thermal conductive silicone compounds contain organosilicon and zinc oxide, while more expensive compounds contain excellent heat-resistant conductors, such as silver or ceramic powder. The advantage of silver or ceramic powder conductive silicone grease is that you will have a more efficient heat transfer. But the basic thermal conductive silicone grease will be enough to meet the needs of most people.

If you plan on overclocking your computer, try to make thermal paste from the main silver, copper and gold. These are thermally conductive silicone grease that can be made most beneficial to metals.


2 Clean the surface of heat sink and CPU

Use a cotton swab or cotton ball and dip it in isopropanol to gently wipe off the surface dirt. The proportion of better alcohols is higher. 70% is good, but 90% is good.


3 Sand radiator and if necessary processor surface

Ideally, the two contact surfaces will be completely flat, which will completely eliminate the need for thermal paste. If your radiator base is rough, it can be wet sand down, and polishing it can make it smoother. This is not always necessary unless you aim for ultimate cooling performance.

Thermal conductive silicone grease is used on the surface to fill gaps and defects. Because modern production technology cannot make a defect free surface, thermal conductive silica gel will always be necessary.


4 Place the conductive silicone grease in the center of the radiator base

Paste beads should be smaller than BB or rice grains. If you know it's supposed to be "pea size," which means too much paste, you'll end up pasting it on the motherboard.

There is no need to propagate the silicone grease circulating cooler, as the applied pressure will evenly diffuse it on its surface.


5 Additional external heat sink to processor

Instead of installing the radiator with pressure from all sides, and the beads you place on the surface will spread over the entire contact surface. This will create a thin, even layer, which will fill the void and avoid excessive accumulation.

As the heat is applied, the slurry will become thinner and spread more towards the edge. That's why it's important to use a small amount of stickers, because it's a long way to go.


6 Do not remove the radiator after installation

It can be difficult to check if your radiator has been properly applied. If you break the seal created when installing the radiator, you will need to restart the process, first clean off the old patch, and then reapply it.


7 Re connect the fan to the motherboard

The wire of CPU fan should be plugged in the CPU fan socket, because it mainly has PWM function, which allows the computer to automatically adjust the fan speed without changing the voltage.


8 Guide fan cooling system

Check the fan rotation and press F1 or Del to enter BIOS during post.
